In the beginning
In the beginning
It all began with an advert.
After having a go at a new hobby, I found just how much fun and exciting it was to work with epoxy resin. I loved how I could add in new colours and create different effects with mica powder and glitter. Does everywhere in my house now have glitter? Of course! That’s half the fun :)
I began including pressed dried flowers and even started to have a go at making my own.
I quickly moved into UV resin to create unique jewellery for my friends and family who loved them. In a world of mass produced, the added love that goes into handmade makes every item its own little story.
New ideas kept popping into my head and I wanted to try everything! I had suddenly made so many different items that my little makeshift corner of the bedroom had overflowed. “Why not try to sell some of your items on Etsy?” - the brilliant and dangerous words of a friend. Me? sell my creations? what if no one likes them? what if I’m not good enough?
But what if they do like them?
The next thing I knew I was having my own logo created and had my very own Etsy shop and some in person stalls booked.
Etsy is a wonderful place to find those unique and handmade items, but Etsy knows this and charges a lot for the privilege (on multiple occasions for each and every item) which then increases the value you need to sell an item in order to cover your costs.
So here I am on my very own website :)
Thank you for joining me on my journey (and reading this far) - I hope you come back for my next journal.
